This recipe for pizza sauce makes a bit extra, so if you like dip the crusts in warmed up sauce, or freeze the extra for the next time you want to make pizza. Special Tip: In the toppings section above I have supplied you with 20 vegan pizza toppings! Make sure to check them out!
Add the yeast and warm water to a bowl and set aside.
To a standing mixer with a dough hook (or large bowl) combine flour and salt.
Use a spatula to mix and make well in the middle. To the flour well, add the yeast mixture and oil.
Turn on the standing mixer (or use a spatula to combine) and mix until it balls up around the dough hook.
Special Tip: If you're not using a standing mixer, once the dough starts to come together with the spatula, add it to a clean dry surface. Kneed until smooth… You may need to add dough to your hands and the surface you are working on to avoid sticking.
Dust the bowl with flour(same bowl you just used in the mixer, because it is still warm). And put the dough back in and cover with plastic wrap and then a kitchen towel. Let rise for at least 2 hours.
After the dough has risen to twice its size. Punch down the dough. Then do a quick 3 second "knead" in the mixer, or on the countertop. Make a ball out of the dough.
How to Make Homemade Pizza Sauce:
Mix everything for sauce together in a medium size bowl, cover with plastic wrap until you are ready to use.
How to Make Homemade Pizza:
Preheat oven to 500 degrees. If you're using a pizza stone, add that in now.
Cover surface and hands or rolling pin with flour. Stretch and roll out the pizza dough. Add to a pizza pan, then top with sauce and desired toppings.
Place the pizza in the oven for 10 min, watch closely and spin it 1/2 way through.
Once cooked through, remove from the oven and let the pizza sit for 3 min, cut into 8 slices and serve.
Special Tip: If using a pizza paddle, add some cornmeal to the paddle (it will help the pizza slide and also give it that "delivery crunch"). Once the dough is stretched/rolled out, add it to the wheel, then add toppings.
