It’s easy to make vegan chocolate dipped strawberries, you just need to get vegan chocolate chips (which are found in most stores).
Regular semi sweet and dat chocolate chips do contain dairy, so look for the words “vegan” or “dairy free” on the bag, or read the ingredients.
Shopping List for Plant Based Chocolate Covered Strawberries:
- 10 strawberries
- ⅓ cup vegan dark chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
Optional Add-Ins:
- ⅛ cup vegan white chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon sprinkles
- 1 tablespoon chopped nuts
How to Make Vegan Chocolate Covered Strawberries
If you don’t want to go through the work of setting up a double boiler you can easily melt the chocolate and oil together in the microwave!
How to Make Chocolate Dipped Strawberries in the Microwave:
- Cover a plate with parchment paper and set aside.
- Add the vegan dark chocolate chips and the coconut oil to a medium microwave safe bowl.
- Microwave for 10 seconds, mix and then microwave for another 10 seconds and mix again. Do this until the chocolate is melted.
- Then follow the stops 4-6 below.
How to Make Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries:
- Set up a double boiler: Add some water to a small pot, place a heat safe bowl over the top of the pot so that it seals but does not touch water.
- Cover a plate with parchment paper, set aside.
- Bring the water to a boil, then add the vegan dark chocolate and coconut oil to the bowl. Mix the chocolate as it melts.
- Once the chocolate is completely melted, dip the strawberries into the chocolate. Spoon over as needed.
- Place the strawberries onto the parchment paper lined plate as you work.
- Once all your strawberries are covered in chocolate, move them to the fridge to set for an hour.
Using the Optional Add-ins:
- White Chocolate Drizzle– For the white chocolate, complete the recipe above and let chill for an hour as directed. Set up a double boiler just as you did for the dark chocolate, but this time melt the white chocolate chips. Then drizzle over the chocolate covered strawberries.
- Sprinkles and Nuts– Before the chocolate sets on the strawberries, sprinkle them with sprinkles or nuts. Then chill in the fridge as directed.
